The Red Light controller board is acting as the light switch which is controlled by low voltage signals. It is designed to work in Axia digital system, but it can be used with other systems, as well. Mainly, it may be used to turn studio signaling lights such “ON AIR”, “Monitor DIMM”, “VIP telephone” and so on, but it could be used to control other main powered equipment. It provides isolation between main power and signaling circuit of 5kV AC. The module is designed to be placed directly in to the light's enclosure or in to the separate enclosure by a qualified electrician. It can switch AC (only) current max 900 mA and voltage from 90-240 V AC. The signaling connection is via CAT5/6 RJ45 connectors. The board can be daisy chained. Five jumpers enable programming of function. When used with GPIO dongle it can be directly connected to the Axia GPIO port by using ordinary CAT5/6 cable. No soldering is required. The circuit is designed so the switch happens during AC zero crossing. That ensures “click less” and interference free operation to low level audio signals such as microphone signals. Two main circuit terminals are screw type.
